Soul and Science

Have you ever wondered what “psychology” means etymologically?

Well, it comes from Greek: ψυχή – psihi  which means soul, and λόγος – logos, meaning word, reason, cause, or in our current interpretation – science. The science of the Soul with other words.

This is a very difficult topic to approach and to make my point would require a long exposure, but I am trying to render it in just few words.

Nobody knows really. Materialism denies the existence of a soul, and for that matter our present science is based on the same assumption. Soul is something bitterly dismissed, something relegated to kindergarten tales, or considered a product of some delirious fool´s imagination. More or less derisory self-delusion.

What do you do when you know and experience that something invisible – Soul – is not simple fabrication but the most supreme reality, and this very unshakable knowledge vehemently contradicts the general belief?

Who is right…? Me knowing beyond any shadow of doubt that Soul is reality, or science who shamelessly denies that?

Just imagine the conflicts and fierce contempt I had to put up throughout the years, trusting my inner voice and not what I was expected to believe. HOW CAN I BELIEVE IN “SCIENTIFIC” APPROACH WHEN ITS INHERENT IDEAS DENY AND DEMEAN ME, MY INNERMOST FEELING, MY VERY REALITY?

I will tell you: SCIENCE IS A TOTAL SHAM as long as soul is not taken into account!! The reductionist ideas from which science derives are sheer stupidity and arrogance as they are ontologically incorrect – as long as it doesn´t consider man´s totality of being !

Look unbiased around and see what happened to mankind holding the current belief that soul doesn´t exist. The consequence of that?…DISEASE…

Yes, disease which is caused by the denial of all feelings related to soul …Emotional disease which lies behind all our afflictions.

OUR SOUL IS ILL! Our soul is in agony. These demeaning ideas invented by some fools like Newton, Descartes and Darwin from which “modern” science has arisen, are the very reason to our present sickness. They have killed life within us.

Look around – people are terribly afraid of emotion, they are afraid to feel, to embrace their greatness, their soul. Of course they are afraid, cause EMOTION POINTS TO WHO YOU ARE and not to what you have been told you are.

That is why we have this total inane and stupid world of today –  because we have killed our soul, our emotion. WE ARE AFRAID OF OUR REAL NATURE.

The soul is the abode of all beauty, greatness, virtue, wisdom, Love, Art…We are constantly denying our soul, thus we deny Life with all its treasures.

Now, what is imperative is TO HEAL OUR SOUL. BUT “HOW” DO WE DO IT? WHO CAN HELP US…?
Who can heal us when our so-called psychologists and doctors are themselves suffering from the same illness?

As Soul belongs to the unseen – how can we penetrate deeply and lucidly into these ineffable realms, in order to save ourselves and re-establish THE INNER ORDER WITHIN…?

About julienmatei
I feel an inner urge to express what I see, to communicate and share with others all these impressions. Often the things I see are there, not yet manifest, but waiting... to be observed, talked about, and embraced. These new insights need another approach, a more vivid curiosity... Due to fear and prejudice we prefer to see only "the official" truth - but THE OFFICIAL TRUTH IS DEAD - being dead, it has nothing to give... We can continue pretending Death is fascinating or... we can take the trouble to LIVE... THE NEW has no definition yet... Again, IT requires another "perception", the courage to apprehend everything differently, from a totally new angle, with new confidence and inquisitive touch. This blog is not about interesting concepts, it is about participation... finding new solutions, inspiration, togetherness.

Thank you for writing this – I too have problems with science, specifically psychology and psychiatry. The very notion that someone;’s entire Being can be described scientifically is absurd. Actually, I thought I wanted to study psychology until I learned it is taught in college or university as a science. That totally turned me off, and is a big part of why I am attracted to philosophy.

I only read this once, but I still think there is a role for science in society – as you probably agree. However, science is merely descriptive, or a way of describing the natural world in numbers and figures. This, if not careful can lead one to believe that is all there is to the world, negating the power and value of the Self.

Just a thought, but is there not a place for both science and philosophy?

All the greatest scientists and innovators were acutely aware of the vital importance of soul and inspiration, yet Science as we know it today, reinforces invariably Reason in the detriment of other more subtle qualities, which can be termed as intuition, soul, divine inspiration.

It overlooks and rather disregards these great human resources.

If science hasn´t found it, it means that Soul doesn´t exist – that is what most people think. And the outcome of this existential outlook is our very hollow age which invariably denies – and deprives itself of – emotion. In plain words, indirectly – and alas even directly – science negates the power and value of Self. Look from what defective grounds our medicine derives from…

Very few humans go against this erraneaous approxiamation, and these are the ones who also realize something of consequence.

The greatest scientists before were also great philosophers versed in spirituality. As I said initially, Decartes, Newton and Darwin have modeled this scientific outlook which has divorced itself from “real life”.

If you want to study psychology, don´t let yourself be discouraged – there are other courses of action as well. In my opinion, judging from what you go through – your depression – by the time you will totally recover from it, having understood things from the inside, you can help others. You have talent, you can do a lot of things.

Take it step by step and trust your gut feeling – one thing does not exclude the other.

    Dear Julien and Paul,

to make it short: science doesn’t deny the existence of a soul, it just says “I can’t detect it”. Just like the existence of (a) god. That makes a major difference.

The problem about science is that people have lifted it far above the not-knowing-clouds. A serious scientist would never claim that his hypothesis applies for all situations and all times. Another problem is that one of science basics is the use of definitions. I’d say mathematics is the only possible science where definitions are clear and unique. All the others have got a really weak system, eventually.

A word to Paul: philosophy is a science. Look at those milestones like Descartes, Kant and all oft those other smart guys: they use seemingly endless masses of definitions.

As I’ve found out for myself, you can’t get real answers via science. There’s always a lack of a clear definition and so the whole building suffers from a foundation of low quality. When you dare to skip science and especially philosophy you will inevitably get to spiritualism.

This is where you start to see what it really is all about. Just read Krishnamurti. Although his words are very often extremely abstract, he somehow has found a way to describe the undescribable.
