Can we break free from inner and outer blockages through Art?

Nothing is definitively said or done.

To dare consider everything anew, to “seize” the moment
as an inspired improvisation – to question and examine it all out of a sense
of freedom and not going by the rule.

Life is about jazz, nay, LIFE IS JAZZ, yet very few seem to see or want to understand this.

Sadly, everyone wants to play it safely, and the consequence is that true expression
has become almost anarchic in our days.

Heidi:
Conformity is safety… I want to ‘play jazz’ yet how can I when I do not where the notes start, how the tune goes…? :-)

I have been more aware, and as you say, aiming for true expression recently… it is harder than it seems, when you are consciously aware of behaviour/thoughts/feelings, because past patterns are so tightly held that is hard to see past them, to understand where and how to break free.

First we must see, before we can change.

Me:
Take the Change and in the process you begin to see – that´s the way it goes.

Who in you wants “to understand”?…Give it thought…

It is in actual fact the “inner authority”, this thief in you which is the past, the ubiquitous conditioning, the societal voices keeping you captive, hating change, preventing you from letting go and finding out.

These patterns are terribly difficult to break, I know that well.

Please listen!

YOU HAVE TO STOP BEING “AWARE”…WHAT WE IMAGINE BEING AWARENESS IS AN ILLUSION. That because “True Awareness” is beyond any conscious pursuit, it actually belongs to the so-called unconscious mind.

So…DO IT FIRST AND UNDERSTAND AFTERWARDS!

Write first and analyze after! – that´s the way it goes.

Trust your gut feeling IN THE SECOND! Only in total spontaneity you can fathom something…

You don´t need to know HOW THE TUNE STARTS, or how it goes…just start.

Hum if you have to, hear the sounds around you, talk senselessly, hit any rhythm with
your fingers…

This is the ultimate truth: LIFE OBEYS NO PREDICTABLE PATTERN…simply dare admit that.

Don´t try to break free – you are actually free. You just are finding out this now.

Joakim´s commenting whether Change is possible

Deliberate change is not possible.

Where there is a wish, it will not be fulfilled.

You have to actually be the change itself.
Being the change means not being you.

But the change will not have a direction if you don’t direct it. So the change will actually not be a change, but just a happening, an expression of the actual state of the existing (what is).

So you can be that change by seeing what is, but you can never actually become
“what is” by choice, though it may appear like that to you or to others.
The action or happening comes before the thought, but the mind always claims credit for every thought or action with some potential value.
By this I mean that if you think you can change things the way you want them to, this change has probably already started to take place.

So, in this way… the law of attraction works, but not as an effect of any action or thought deliberately made by any self.
There are no deliberate thoughts actually. I think we pay too much attention to our attention, our being “aware” is never equal to “what is”, but merely “one illusion at a time”…

An interesting dialogue about time

Richard says:

“I am speaking about psychological time here” was a central issue of yours. I think this derives from Krishnamurti’s point of view who said literally “It is the interval between idea and action. An idea is for self-protection obviously; it is the idea of being secure. Action is always immediate; it is not of the past or of the future; to act must always be in the present, but action is so dangerous, so uncertain, that we conform to an idea which we hope will give us a certain safety.”

Well, to live a real life means to live in the now. You can neither live in the past nor in the future – only our thoughts remain in these tenses much too often. Our depressions stem from the past and our anxieties emerge from future thoughts.

My answer:

For sure, an idea is a means to self-protection – self-protection meaning resistance against “the unpleasant” – that is against the Unknown …So action being so dangerous, so uncertain, we conform to an idea which we hope will give us a certain safety. This very idea we conform to, creates the interval, and this interval – that is fearing the unknown –  is time; that´s exactly what I say.

In fact, every form of inner escape, creates time. It is a terrible thing for many to live now. As “Now” means confrontation both with real pain, BUT AS MUCH WITH ABSTRACT PAIN!!! And according to what I see, abstract pain is much more unbearable to people than actual whatever affliction. It is not the object per se which scare us, but our thoughts about it.

To confront fearful thoughts is an unbearable undertaking for most humans, don´t you think?

This is perfectly formulated Richard:

“To live a real life means to live in the now. You can neither live in the past nor in the future – only our thoughts remain in these tenses much too often. Our depressions stem from the past and our anxieties emerge from future thoughts.”

So sad, instead of Now, people live in tenses…

I could also add that depression is constant reiteration of the past into the future. This mechanical reiteration, which is Fear, kills Now. When we give up Time, we give up our resistance, and in that readiness we can confront the real problem – fear.
