On fear

“If I think too much ahead, I become terribly frightened”, ” mörkrädd” she said.
In this case “ahead “means future, right?

In Swedish, “mörkrädd” means literally being afraid of darkness. So, we transpose our inner darkness on the “future”, for what lies “ahead” of us. But this “ahead” exists in our imagination only…The future is completely neutral, it has nothing to do with our fear.

We are afraid now, let’s admit this, for it is logical and quite obvious: we refuse to deal with our fear, we are scared like hell of our inner darkness.
